Come, Take a Class with Me!
I've been teaching art for more than 20 years - because I love it! I love when experienced painters' eyes light up because they've learned something new and when students new to painting get super excited at the world of possibilities that open up to them artistically. Most recently, I have taught abstraction for the Art League of Alexandria (VA) - every semester - for five years and I've taught pastel painting in workshops in the Delmarva area for longer. Last year, I took a group of students on a pastel painting retreat to France and this year I'll be teaching pastels in the Shenandoah, Cedar Key, Florida. Next year, we'll be in Scotland!
Here's what students are saying about my teaching:
"Bryan Jernigan is an outstanding pastel artist and an excellent instructor. He generously shares his techniques and is very clear and supportive. Every time he offers a pastel class I sign up." - Mike, Arlington, VA
"Bryan is a highly accomplished and thoroughly creative abstract artist. He teaches abstract art in oil and acrylics. Accomplished artists and brand new artists are able to achieve a level of performance beyond all expectations." - Abstract painting student, Alexandria, VA
"He runs a great class, that worked for the person that used pastels for one day (me!) to people who had been doing it for years. He has quite the teaching talent, as well as artistic prowess!" - Pat, Takoma Park, MD
"Bryan starts off a beginner by breaking down and simplifying the steps toward picture building, and, at the same time, offer more experienced students useful tips to hone their skills. He is always pleasant and encouraging. I learn something new at every workshop!" - Dorothy, McLean, VA
