2016 - City of Alexandria, VA's Community Supported Arts Program

In 2016, the City of Alexandria, Virginia, awarded a grant to me to create 50 original pastel pieces for a program they are calling Community Supported Arts. Based on the model of community supported agriculture, six artists each create 50 original works and art lovers buy a "share" in the program. For their contribution, supporters will receive six pieces of original art (one piece from each artist). My artwork must be submitted by the end of August. I have chosen to create 50 pastel landscapes that include fields and trees in various seasons. I'll be posting here as I create them so you can follow along and see how I work. While these pieces are set aside for the program (and not for sale to the public), if you see one you can't live without, please let me know, and I am happy to create a similar one for you. I routinely do commissions, so I'm used to creating something specific for clients. All these are 5" x 7", matted in a white, acid-free mat and framed behind glass in a simple black frame. They would be $85 each. I usually require a week to turn around one, considering I'm working on the CSA project, but I'm happy to do it if you see one you like! So continue watching as I create, and let me know if you'd like one, too!
